We care about the Ocean.

Do You?

There are so many things that kill sea animals like trash and pollution, but there are many foundations out there that are trying to help them out. One example is 4Ocean. They collect trash from beaches and the ocean and when you buy a bracelet, you remove 1 pound of trash from the ocean. Another is WWF, which is trying to not only help sea turtles, but animals all over the world.
Even if you don’t live by a beach or you can’t help any other way, just educating yourself and spreading the word is helpful. This is a real problem, and it doesn't just revolve around sea creatures. Animals all over the world are facing similar problems, and you should help.

5 things that you can do to help the ocean:

  • stop using plastic straws
  • use re-usable water bottles vs. plastic ones
  • pick up trash on the side of the road---it may seem like it is nowhere near the ocean, but most of it actually ends up there!
  • donate to foundations and groups that help ocean pollution
  • spread the word about ocean pollution!

Starbucks is a very popular resteraunt, and they are taking a stand in ocean pollution. they are stopping the use of plastic straws and lids, and are replacing them with biodegradeable ones. This may seem like not a very big impact, but every little bit counts. A way that you could help is by not using your straw and/or encourage local resteraunts to stop buying and serving plastic straws. not all straws are bad for the enviroment. paper straws, and metal and glass reusable straws are fine. just because cutting out your use of plastic straws helps the world, doesn't mean not using any straws at all. Unfortunatley, plastic straws are the most common. Starbucks is doing a really brave and great thing by using biodegradeable items.
